As you are aware, late in December 2021 Island Health placed Veterans Memorial Lodge under Enhanced Surveillance Measures in response to a positive COVID-19 test for two Broadmead Care team members: one in the Laundry, and one on lodge A1 (Olympic View), in two separate incidents.
During the days that followed, all residents were monitored for symptoms twice daily, and enhanced cleaning and COVID-19 protocols were in place. While we originally advised that enhanced surveillance would end on January 10, 2022, late last week Dr. Bonnie Henry reduced the length of enhanced surveillance measures for long term care. As a result, Island Health declared that the Enhanced Surveillance at Veterans Memorial Lodge over on January 4, 2022.
