In 2026, we are at an important moment. The Second World War is moving from living memory into history. Soon, there will be no one left who can tell those stories firsthand.
That is why their voices matter now more than ever.
Heroes Among Us shares the personal stories of veterans at Broadmead Care, from the Second World War and Korean War to more recent conflicts and peacekeeping missions. Their stories help us understand the people behind the history and the courage, sacrifice and strength that shaped their lives.

Broadmead Care is raising vital funds to renovate six bathing rooms at Veterans Memorial Lodge, transforming them into safe, functional, and dignified spaces for veterans and seniors. These essential rooms provide daily comfort and therapeutic care, yet many no longer meet modern safety or infection-control standards.
