Visitation changes for long term care homes

This morning Dr. Henry announced a temporary change to restrict visits to long term care homes to essential visits only, effective Saturday, January 1, 2022. This change reflects a continued commitment to safety for the people who live and work in Care Homes.

What you need to know

Essential visitors will be screened before entry, and will be required to follow current COVID-19 protocols while in our Care Homes.

  • Essential visits are those that are deemed necessary for the physical care and mental wellbeing of a resident, such as assistance with feeding or personal care. One person at a time may visit, and each Care Home will determine whether the visit is essential.
  • We recognize the importance of family members spending time with loved ones at the end of life. End of life visits may include more than one person at a time, and will be arranged with the Care Home when needed.
  • During this temporary restriction, we recommend your loved one remains in our Care Home rather than going on outings, for the safety of everyone who lives and works with us. We appreciate your understanding.

We appreciate your patience over the next few days as we work to create a smooth process for essential visits to take place.

Keep Connected

We know how important it is to stay in touch with your loved ones. The Keep Connected page is open and ready for your messages, videos, and photos. We invite you to upload messages through this page, and we will share them with your loved ones.

Plans are also underway to help you arrange window visits or phone/video calls with your loved ones; more information will be provided when we have our processes established.

Thank you for your understanding and patience as we work together to move safely into the new year. We will keep you informed as we have more news to share.
