Veterans Memorial Lodge on enhanced surveillance measures as at Aug 31, 2021

Veterans Memorial Lodge (VML) is currently under enhanced surveillance measures after one of our team members tested positive for COVID-19. We are working closely with Island Health’s Medical Health Officer and Public Health team, and will keep you informed on a regular basis.

What you need to know

On August 30, 2021, Island Health advised us that one team member tested positive for COVID-19. This person last worked on August 29, 2021, and is now self-isolating at home. Island Health’s Public Health team is completing contact tracing to determine anyone who may have been at risk of exposure.

VML has not been declared on outbreak by Island Health at this time. This means that the risk for exposure to residents, team members, and visitors is low. However, VML is operating under enhanced surveillance measures that include COVID-19 testing for all residents in the affected area; testing for team members who may have had close contact, as identified by Island Health; daily screening of residents for COVID-19 symptoms twice daily; and, enhanced cleaning protocols.

The Adult Day Program and Veterans Health Centre will continue to operate as usual, with the exception of the Veterans Health Centre bathing program. Family and friends are welcome to visit VML as usual, following all COVID-19 protocols currently in place. Residents remain welcome to go on outings.

As a community of care, we have worked diligently to keep the people who live, work, and visit Broadmead Care Homes as safe as possible, and we will continue to do so as we meet this latest challenge. Thank you so much for your support for our team members – we are ever grateful.
