For the third year in a row, St. Margaret’s School student Lois visited Veterans Memorial Lodge to give Valentines’ Day cards and heart-shaped shortbread cookies to the residents. She started this in 2021 when the pandemic meant in-person visits were limited, as a way to bring a smile to people’s faces. That year, and in 2022, cookies and cards were delivered to the front door, and Lois met with one or two people via a window visit.
This year, she got to come inside, and personally deliver the cards and cookies!
The cards were created by students and teachers at St. Margaret’s School, and the cookies were home-baked by Lois herself. One resident said, “That was such a lovely thing and a wonderful surprise. The cookie was delicious!”
We are thrilled for Lois’s participation, humbled by her generous heart, and thankful for her amazing spirit!
At the Veterans Health Centre, morning participants created clayย thumbprint heart keychains with a special message. These were given toย their lovedย ones in celebration of Valentine’s Day. ย Clients stamped theirย initials on the back. ย We understand recipients were thrilled with their gifts!
Thanks to all who made Valentine’s Day special for the people who live and work in Broadmead Care Homes. We appreciate you!
