When Jerry received a call from Broadmead Care, he never imagined it was because he’d just won the first ‘Worth a Shot’ 50/50 jackpot.
“I was so surprised. I wasn’t expecting anything. I am blessed — I work, and I receive something, so I like to give anything extra to help someone else. Sometimes it’s food or clothing, sometimes I give money to people who need it. When I saw the advertisement for the 50/50 draw, I thought, ‘why not’? But I never expected to win,” said Jerry.
Jerry plans to use some of money to pay off student loans, and hopes to further his education by training as a Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse in the future.
The total jackpot reached $18,632 — which means Jerry took home an astounding $9,316! The remaining proceeds will help support the veterans, seniors, and adults with disabilities who live with Broadmead Care, ensuring the best in care through programs like creative arts, spiritual care, music & memory, or the purchase of specialty equipment. These are all things not covered by government funding.
Thank you to everyone who took part — we hope you will play again.
As for Jerry? He will definitely participate again — not to win, but to continue helping the people who live and work at Broadmead Care. Thank you, Jerry!
