Veterans Health Centre Day Program participant William (Bill) McIntyre was featured through the Lookout Newspaper Veterans Corner series. Created in partnership with Broadmead Care, the series shares the stories of veterans who attend the Veterans Health Centre Day Program and those who call Veterans Memorial Lodge home. Bill was just 19 years old when he left his family’s farm in Prince Edward Island to join the Royal Canadian Navy. He spent more than 30 years serving as a marine engineer, helping keep ships running safely during training, repairs, and deployments. His work took him around the world, and he took great pride in serving his country. Bill’s story is a reminder of the dedication and quiet service of the men and women who helped protect Canada, often behind the scenes.
