A New Chapter for Eden Gardens: Celebrating Community, Resilience, and Partnership

Today we are honoured to celebrate an important milestone in the journey of Eden Gardens, a Home built on decades of compassion, dedication, and community spirit.

Eden Gardens’ story begins with the Nanaimo Travellers Lodge Society, whose roots trace back to 1945. What started as a vision to create a care home for elders became a reality with the opening of Travellers Lodge in 1981, and later, the beautiful Eden Gardens residence in 2017.

This legacy was made possible through the unwavering commitment of volunteers, donors, board members, and staff. Countless hours and generous contributions laid the foundation for a Home that continues to support elders with dignity and care.

Like many care communities, Eden Gardens faced significant challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic. Staff shortages, restrictions, and uncertainty tested the strength of the organization. Yet, through resilience, compassion, and teamwork, the Eden Gardens community persevered.

In 2023, after careful consideration and a thorough selection process, the Nanaimo Travellers Lodge Society chose Broadmead Care as its partner for the future. This transition, though complex and lengthy, reflects a shared commitment to providing exceptional care for the people who live at Eden Gardens.

Over the past two years, Broadmead Care has worked alongside Eden Gardens’ team with respect, collaboration, and a deep appreciation for its legacy. Today we are proud to formally celebrate this partnership and the bright future ahead.

Eden Gardens is truly a gem in its community. Together we look forward to continuing its tradition as a place of growth, love, and joy for generations to come.
