A new beat at Rest Haven Lodge

With an unusually long and sunny summer and fall in Sidney, the people who live and work at Rest Haven Lodge enjoyed many wonderful activities in our patio and garden area.

Punkins!

At the end of October, we moved right into our Halloween celebrations. People created many fun – and some spooky – pumpkins, to help celebrate the season. We also had a fun Halloween party in our main lounge with lots of great music, food, and dancing. Some of the costumes were very creative!

On November 11, we shared in a Remembrance Day event with readings and hymns, and then together watched the Sidney Remembrance Day service on TV.

Yoga drumming at Rest Haven Lodge

Fun and Fitness at Rest Haven Lodge has taken on a new beat! We have started Yoga Ball Drumming. Both our Adult Day Program and residents are really enjoying this activity. The Drumming program is seated, low intensity, and has many benefits. It improves cognitive function and memory, enhances mood, reduces stress and anxiety, and increases range of motion. And it’s fun!

As December rolls in, it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! Our Activities staff and resident elves have been very busy transforming the Lodge into a Winter Wonderland. We have set up a Christmas photo booth for residents to have their picture taken. Then they will create Christmas cards for their families. This week, we hosted a Holiday High Tea for residents and their families, and will enjoy a Christmas luncheon on December 25.

Collecting for the Food Bank

Staff at Rest Haven Lodge have also been filling up a donation box with non-perishable items for the local Food Bank. We will be delivering these later in the month. It is our privilege to be able to make a difference in our community.

All the very best for the Holiday Season from Rest Haven Lodge!
