National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

Across our Homes, we mark the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation by honouring Residential School Survivors, their families, and communities.

It is also Orange Shirt Day, founded by Phyllis Webstad and inspired by her experience at a residential school in BC. Its message, Every Child Matters, reminds us that every child deserves to feel valued and cared for.

Today, Broadmead Care is wearing orange to show our support and take time to reflect. September 30 is a time to learn about the history of residential schools and how their impact continues today.

Everyone can take part by attending a local Indigenous-led event, reading stories by Indigenous authors, or talking with family and friends about reconciliation. We listen with open hearts and reflect on our shared responsibility to move reconciliation forward.
