Single Designated Social Visitor Update

Today we are advising you about changes since our last update of January 5, 2022. Thank you for your patience as we have prepared our Homes and team members to receive visitors.

What you need to know

Visits to our Care Homes

  • We are now in a position to welcome Single Designated Social Visits. Single Designated Social Visitors will need to phone Reception at their Care Home to schedule an appointment for their COVID-19 rapid test. The process will take about 20 minutes, and will happen at the Care Home. If your result is negative, you will then be invited into the Care Home to visit with your loved one.
  • COVID-19 rapid test appointments will be booked at least one day in advance to allow every resident to have an in-person visit weekly.
  • Hours of COVID-19 rapid testing appointments will vary by Care Home. Please call Reception at your Care Home for the most up to date information.
  • Following the rapid test, there is no time limit for your visit.

COVID-19 Rapid Tests

  • All visitors will need to have a rapid COVID-19 test that is negative before being permitted entry to the Home. This rapid test will happen at the Care Home and applies to Essential, End of Life, and Single Designated Social Visitors.

Please note that all visitors are required to follow current COVID-19 protocols, including wearing a mask at all times. You should proceed directly to your loved one’s room, and remain there for the duration of your visit.

Communication with you

As things are changing quickly, and to reduce email traffic, we will use our Current Status webpage to provide updated information about visiting at each Care Home. Please bookmark this page to check the latest information about Care Home status, as well as visiting information. We will continue to email you on Wednesdays, unless there is information that needs to be shared on a timelier basis.

We also wish to remind you that you can use the Keep Connected webpage to send messages, photos, or videos to your loved one. These will be shared with your loved one as soon as possible.

We understand how important it is for you and your loved one to have an in-person visit. We are doing our best to balance all Provincial Health requirements with the resources we have available to us. Please visit our Current Status page for answers to frequently asked questions.

Thank you for your understanding and support as together we work to protect the most vulnerable in our communities in these rapidly changing times.
