Thank You for Making Our 2025 Shred-a-Thon a Record-Breaking Success!
Thanks to the incredible Greater Victoria community, this year’s Shred-a-Thon — held on Saturday, April 26, 2025 — was our most successful yet, raising more than $13,000 in support of the people who call Nigel House home!
Thanks to beautiful weather and the outstanding dedication of our volunteers, the day was truly unforgettable. Funds raised will provide essential medical companion services for the people who live at Nigel House, helping them receive the care they deserve when they need it most.
We are deeply grateful to everyone who made this achievement possible — from our generous sponsors to every community member who came out to support us. Thanks to your overwhelming response, we filled the shredding truck by 11:30 AM! If we were unable to accept your documents near the end of the event, we sincerely apologize. When the shredding truck reaches full capacity, we can no longer securely dispose of your documents. Hang on to your shredding, as we will be back next year!
Your participation generosity and spirit of community make a real and lasting difference. We truly cannot thank you enough for your time, energy, and support. Together, we are continuing to build communities where every person can experience wellbeing and happiness.

Funds raised through this event help provide essential private companion services for the people who live at Nigel House. Many of the people who live there face complex medical needs and require help getting to and from vital appointments. Private companions cost $38/hour for 2–16 hours monthly, but demand exceeds our resources — and that’s why we need your help. Your support will help ensure the people who live at Nigel House receive the care they deserve, when they need it most.

Shred-a-Thon FAQs
Q: Can I bring my shredding in a bag?
A: You can bring us your paper documents in any type of container. We ask for a suggested fee of $10 per size of bankers box (or similar).
Q: Do I need to remove staples and paper clips?
A: No, but please remove binder clips, plastic folders, and spiral bindings.
Q: Can businesses participate?
A: YES, If you have a large load of shredding, it would be great to hear from you to ensure we are prepared to welcome you at the event. Email: marci.harker@broadmeadcare.com
Q: Will there be long wait times?
A: Our goal is to have you in and out as quickly as possible. When you pull up, our volunteers will be ready to assist you. You don’t even need to get out of your car!
Q: Can I stay and watch my paper get shredded?
A: YES, we will have a pull-out area for people who may wish to park and watch their shredding take place.
Q: Will all shredding take place on site?
A: RecordXPress‘s Best Shredding Truck will be at our event with a secure shredding truck. If we fill the truck before our event is over, we will fill a U-Haul truck with paper and deliver it to the Best Shredding secure office for immediate shredding after the event. You can chat with our volunteers at our event to ensure we shred as per your preference.
