Long Term Care @ Home

The Long Term Care at Home program helps older adults in Greater Victoria live safely, comfortably, and independently at home.

When you join, our team will bring helpful technology and support services into your home, tailored to your needs. We will work with you to find the right combination of services and equipment for your lifestyle.

In return, we ask you to share your experiences with us: what you enjoyed, what was challenging, and your ideas for improving the program. This is an ever-evolving collaborative effort based on the lived experiences of those who participate. In addition to the technologies and community services we introduce, you can expect monthly social or educational workshops, and continued technology training throughout your participation to help you learn new skills to keep you connected and confident with technology.

Goals of the program

  • Help to relieve stress for caregivers

What folks are saying about the program …

A few years ago, I began to feel that I needed to move into an affordable independent community in order to have more people around me. I was beginning to feel too alone at home as most of my family lives in the east… then I discovered the Broadmead Long-term Care at Home Program.  After Broadmead set me up electronically, my son felt less anxious about me.  The introduction of Tuktu Services is what really changed my life and makes my son less worried when I go out.  My home has people coming and going.   I do not feel alone anymore.  I will not have to give up my comfortable apartment, nor my art studio thanks to Broadmead Long-term-care at Home. ~ Lucille

The LTC @ Home Program has offered a service that supplies so many answers and supports to navigate the health care system as we are aging and dealing with health issues. They are always just at the end of the phone for any questions. ~ Judy

I was overwhelmed caregiving my husband and was seriously considering putting him in care. This program has provided so many options to help us in our home, I feel my husband is safe because of the motion lighting and Alexa, and I’m relieved of the burdens of driving and cleaning due to Tuktu. ~ Rene

This program has impacted our life because of the knowledge we’ve gained of some of the technologies and services available to assist us as we age. ~ Barb and Fred

Tuktu services have been a game changer for me. My husband enjoys practicing French with his ‘senior sitter’, and having a driver to take us to medical appointments and other events eliminates so much frustration. The companion services allow me to attend and maintain my social connections. The respite available on the program is invaluable, I love that the length of stay is flexible. ~ Nora

Being in this program has changed our lives dramatically. Promoting technology to lessen our workload like the Roomba to clean our floors. With the Alexa we get easy updates about the weather, news, and wonderful music. There are wonderful contact people like Shawn and Michelle who care about us. ~ Nancy

After multiple falls in recent years, I started to become more reclusive and stopped driving. With the technologies provided I felt the courage to reconnect and gained the tools to feel safe. ~ Glenn
