Veterans Health Centre (VHC) is taking the gingerbread house world by storm!
VHC veterans and staff have entered the Gingerbread House Challenge entry at the Panorama Recreation Centre. Voting is by donation with proceeds going to the CFAX Santa’s Anonymous.
Our display includes a Veterans Station, Veterans Express transporting Santa and gifts, and a Veterans Activity Room stocked with a sample of miniature activities our clients enjoy during our Program (the painting on the mini easel is a copy of the faux stained glass work by one of our clients). Exterior lampposts light up the entrance to the Station and interior lights brighten the Activity Room. The display also includes Rudolph, snow skiers, snow boarders, a snow angel, penguin ice skaters on a pond, penguin paddle boarders on a lake, benches and Christmas trees.
Hank Lowe, who visits the Veterans Health Centre’s morning program, said, “This was a fun way to help those who are less fortunate at Christmas time!” Fellow VHC client Gordie Quan echoed this, saying, “I did my service for Canada in the Army, and I believe in supporting people in need. It feels good to be able to help those who are less fortunate.”
From December 1 through 31, you’re invited to stop by and vote for your favourites. (We think we know which those are …)
