On December 7, Stanley Briton Hall passed away peacefully at the age of 97.
Born July 7, 1924 in Calgary, Alberta, Stan was one of eleven children. He met his future wife, Maureen in 1947 on a blind date and they married in 1949. After their son Larry was born, the family moved to the United States where their sons Bryan and David were born.
In 2015, he suffered a stroke which left him partially paralyzed. He was a resident of the Veterans Memorial Lodge at Broadmead for the past six years. An avid musician on the organ, he continued playing until earlier this year, when dementia caused by his stroke robbed him of his ability to play. Stan was a man of great integrity and faith, and made friends easily. He was generous with his time, volunteering as an assistant parade marshal for Remembrance Day activities for 17 years. He also had a witty and quick sense of humour.
Stan is survived by his wife, Maureen, sons Larry (Laurie), Bryan and David as well as eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and his sister Pat.
Donations may be made to the Veterans Memorial Lodge at Broadmead in Victoria.
