About Independent Living
Twenty-eight unfurnished one-bedroom and four unfurnished studio suites.
Rent includes accommodation, lunch and dinner daily, and weekly light housekeeping with laundry service for linens and towels.
Includes a small kitchen with sink and refrigerator.
A damage deposit will be required:
Studio — $850 One bedroom — $1000
Pets will be approved in accordance with Nigel Living’s pet policy. The number of pets permitted in the building is limited. A pet damage deposit of $500 will be required.
Nigel Living’s buildings are smoke free. Smoking is permitted in outside designated areas only.
Offers the same amenities as Independent Living, at a lower rate for tenants who qualify.

You must be 55 years of age or older, or a veteran. Veterans must provide their K number, which can be found on their Veterans Service Card, provided by Veterans Affairs Canada.
You must be independent, defined as: managing your own personal care and mobility; directing your own affairs; and, making informed decisions about life choices. In the event of an emergency, you must be able to exit the building on your own.
You must be at or below the maximum income threshold (see Rate Sheet under Application Documentation).
Nigel Living suites are suitable for one or two people only.
Check to make sure you are eligible to apply (see above).
Gather copies of supporting documents such as: Canada Revenue Agency Notice of Assessment, and, for Subsidized Independent Living only, the previous three months of bank statements.
Complete, sign, and date all sections of the application form, and Personal Profile form. You can do this by downloading the PDF documentation under ‘Application Documents’; emailing nigelliving@broadmeadcare.com to request a hard-copy application form; or picking up an application package from main reception at Veterans Memorial Lodge, 4579 Chatterton Way, Victoria BC V8X 4Y7.
Submit your completed application by email to nigelliving@broadmeadcare.com, or mail to or drop off to main reception at: Nigel Living, 4579 Chatterton Way, Victoria BC V8X 4Y7. 4579 Chatterton Way is Veterans Memorial Lodge, where Broadmead Care’s administrative offices are located. It is near the Pat Bay Highway and Royal Oak Drive.
Wait for a response. Please note: an interview with the Executive Director will be required to confirm applicant eligibility prior to final acceptance.
If accepted, you will be asked to sign a tenancy agreement and provide a non-refundable deposit that will be applied towards your damage deposit.
Your damage deposit, pet deposit (if your pet is approved, and as applicable), and first month’s rent will be required one month prior to move-in.
