What is the difference between affordable housing, independent living, and subsidized independent living?
- Affordable housing offers an unfurnished rental suite for people whose gross household income meets the income threshold established by the CMHC. There are no additional services provided.
- Independent living offers an unfurnished rental suite, lunch and dinner daily, weekly light housekeeping, and weekly laundering of linens. Some outings and programs may be available.
- Subsidized independent living offers the same freedom and amenities as independent living, at a lower cost for tenants who need a little help meeting monthly costs, and who qualify for the program.
Broadmead Care offers all three options through Nigel Living, at Nigel House in Saanich.
