We are pleased to let you know that yesterday Dr. Bonnie Henry announced the end of respiratory illness season.
What you need to know
Effective immediately:
- Healthcare workers, volunteers, contractors, and visitors to our Homes are no longer required to wear masks.
- However, in the event a Home is declared in outbreak by Island Health’s Medical Health Officer, masks will be required. You will be advised at the Home if this is the case.
- Beckley Farm Lodge has been declared on outbreak by Island Health’s Medical Health Officer. Therefore, masks are required as follows:
- We will provide masks to be worn in hallways and common areas.
- Once you reach your loved one’s room, you may remove your mask, unless he or she is involved in the outbreak.
- If you are visiting someone in a shared room, you must wear your mask.
- If you are participating in activities in common areas, you must wear your mask.
- Rest Haven Lodge is on precautions. There is no current requirement for you to wear a mask, but we strongly recommend you do so, for your own protection, and for the wellbeing of the people who live and work there.
- Harriet House, Nigel House, and Veterans Memorial Lodge are open, and masks are currently not required.
What you can do
- Stay home if you have a cough or fever, or are feeling unwell.
- Practice good hand hygiene.
- Cover your coughs and sneezes.
- You may continue to wear a mask if you prefer to do so.
You can find additional information on the BCCDC website.
If you have any questions, please speak with the Executive Director of your loved one’s Home, or with the care team.
Thank you for helping us protect the people who live and work in Broadmead Care Homes.
