There are many ways that volunteering brings meaning to the lives of veterans, residents and clients in all of our sites and programs. Whether you like to take part in group activities and discussion, visit one-on-one, assist with meal or refreshment service, accompany residents on a community outing, or support with volunteer program planning, administration or fundraising – we have a role for you!
The Nigel Program for Adults with Disabilities (located near Uptown Mall in Saanich) may appeal to those interested in sharing time with younger adult residents who have physical and cognitive challenges and want to participate in community activities and outings.
The Veterans Memorial Lodge and Veterans Health Centre (located in Broadmead) may interest those who want to spend their volunteer time making moments matter with veterans and seniors, most of whom have dementia.
The Broadmead Care Foundation and Volunteer Services (located in the Veterans Memorial Lodge) may appeal to volunteers interested in administration, communications, training, fundraising and events.
Current Volunteer Opportunities
Residents appreciate volunteers joining them for community outings one-to-one or in groups. Volunteers are also needed to take Nigel residents to medical appointments via the HandiDart bus.
The Veterans Memorial Lodge and Veterans Health Centre:
Veterans and residents always appreciate more volunteers to visit with them on a 1:1 or group basis. Many staff-led group activities such as bingo, music programs and "happy hour" are supported by volunteers and we usually have a need in one or more of these areas. Volunteers are also needed to assist at mealtimes and in the Veterans Memorial Lodge Gift Shop.
Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Broadmead Care. We invite you to apply online to begin the application process.
Once your application is received by Volunteer Services, we will contact you by phone or email with next steps. You will come for an interview, tour one of our sites, and complete a criminal record check. Following this, you may be invited to attend a volunteer orientation session. Our aim is to match you with a volunteer position which meets our needs and connects well with your interests, skills and abilities.
If you would like to speak to the Coordinator of Volunteers before applying online, please call 250-658-3205 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
