Excellence in Care for Veterans and Seniors

Orientation and Training
Our volunteer orientation and education sessions are designed to ensure your volunteer assignment is safe, fun and successful. We offer general orientation sessions and education workshops on a variety of topics every 6 weeks.
General Orientation:
Every volunteer attends a two hour group orientation session prior to beginning their role. Orientation provides volunteers with the basic expectations and boundaries of volunteer roles and tips for communicating and connecting with residents and clients. Further orientation is provided one on one by the volunteer's direct supervisor.
Education Sessions:
Many volunteers choose to attend education sessions to help them feel more confident and effective in connecting with residents and clients in meaningful ways. We utilize the expertise and experience of interdisciplinary staff for in-house education sessions. There are also workshops in the community that we encourage and support volunteers to attend.
Education sessions offered by Broadmead Care include:
- Supportive Pathways Dementia Care
- Communication Tips for Visiting and Reminiscing
- Supporting Spiritual Wellness
- Meal Time Assistance
* Other workshops may be delivered as requested to meet the needs of volunteers in various roles and settings.
