Excellence in Care for Veterans and Seniors
Opportunities
There are many ways to bring meaning to the lives of residents and clients in all of our sites and programs. We have volunteer roles for people of all sorts: whether you like to take part in group activities and discussion, visit one-on-one, assist with meal or refreshment service, community outing with residents, or support with volunteer program planning and administration or fundraising.
The Nigel Program (located near uptown) may appeal to those interested in sharing time with younger adult residents who have physical and cognitive challenges and want to "Live it Up" together in the community.
The Lodge at Broadmead and Veterans Health Centre (located in Broadmead) may interest those who want to spend their volunteer time making moments matter with Veterans and seniors, many of whom have dementia.
The Broadmead Care Foundation and Volunteer Services (located in Broadmead) may attract volunteers interested in administration, communications, training and events.
Current Volunteer Opportunities
We try to keep our requests on the Volunteer Victoria database up to date. To see detailed current volunteer requests, to http://volweb.ca/volweb/vc_homepage.php?CentreID=187
and search by "Broadmead Care".
Volunteer Role Descriptions:
Clear role descriptions and policies and procedures help volunteers to understand their specific role and its boundaries. If you have a role in mind that is not listed here, we may be able to create it together.
Apply to Become a Volunteer:
All volunteer applicants undergo telephone pre-screening to ensure that they understand the role of volunteers and determine how a person wants to become involved. After phone screening, we will invite you for an interview and tour at the Chatterton Road or Nigel Avenue site, or refer you to Volunteer Victoria for a more suitable placement. We ask you to complete and bring along a Volunteer Application Form to the interview. If we feel we have a suitable volunteer role for you, we will give you a form allowing us to complete a criminal record check and will invite you to the next orientation session.
