Capital  projects  that  provide  home-like  environments  that  foster  community:

The Lodge at Broadmead has developed a building improvement plan with the primary goal of meeting the ever-changing needs of our residents.  Our most important projects are focused on addressing the steady decline in cognition and health care status of veterans and seniors entering our facility.  For example, only 23% of our current residents walk independently and 74% need help with feeding.

Bathing Room Renovation

All seven bathing rooms at the Lodge at Broadmead are due for an overhaul. They are all 16 years old and are looking their age!  Each tub has accommodated 30,000 baths!

The renovation of each bathing room will cost $110,000.  These costs consist of:

$55,000 for a new therapeutic bathtub and two lifts - one reclining, one sitting.  The current lift was designed for residents who were more ambulatory; it is inappropriate for the high-level care veterans and residents now living at the Lodge.  The current lift involves having residents sit in a chair which is then lifted high above the tub, spun 180 degrees and then lowered into the water. Some residents find this disconcerting and some have difficulty sitting and would prefer to lie down to soak.
The new tub will accommodate residents who either wish to sit or lie down while having a bath.

$55,000 to completely renovate the bathing room.  This will involve installing non-skid flooring, waterproof walls, building cabinets (there are currently no cabinets in the rooms and they are filled with open shelves of towels, toiletries and sundry other bathing items), and interior decorating including fresh wallpaper and paint, windows that let in natural light, new lighting, and artwork.

In short, the new bathing rooms will be like those people have in their own homes - pretty, homelike, functional and comfortable.  Thank you for helping make this happen.
