The Lodge at Broadmead is located in a pleasant neighbourhood in Victoria. It is a two-storey building with 8 living units, which we refer to as lodges. Each air conditioned lodge houses 14 to 45 residents and has its own dining room, specialized bathing room, and access to a garden or roof top patio.
Four of our lodges focus on caring for people with dementia (Alzheimer disease and related disorders) at moderate to severe stages. These units follow best-practice standards for dementia care, and are secured with a keypad at entry and exit.
Residents are admitted to the lodge that best suits their care requirements; they may be moved to a different lodge if their needs change.
Resident rooms

We have 201 private rooms and 12 double rooms. The size of a typical room is approximately 11.5 ft. x 18 ft. and is equipped with a hospital bed, clothes closet, drawers and a nurse call-system, as well as an ensuite washroom with toilet and sink. Residents can personalize their rooms with pictures, a television, and small additional furnishings.
Costs
We charge a daily fee that is based on residents’ income, according to a fee structure set by the British Columbia Ministry of Health. It covers accommodation, basic supplies and equipment, meals, most non-prescription medications, activities and care. Some services, such as cable television and hairdressing may cost a little extra. Most prescribed medications are covered under Pharmacare, and are provided at no cost, but those that are not covered must be charged to residents. If you are a Veteran, you may receive additional funding through Veterans Affairs Canada for some services, equipment and supplies. We will let you know about all fees and costs before you move in. |
