Capital  projects  that  provide  home-like  environments  that  foster  community:

Since The Lodge opened its doors twelve years ago, we have seen a significant decline in the cognition and health care status of the residents.  Currently, only 23% of the residents are able to walk independently, while 74% require assistance with feeding.

For the residents, the dining experience is not remotely "normal" or home-like.  There are up to 50 people crowded into a dining room with almost all residents in wheelchairs.  It is also very noisy, especially with the banging and crashing of plates in the institutional servery, which is in full view.  The dining rooms currently feel like a crowded hospital cafeteria.

In order to make the dining rooms function more efficiently, while offering a more home-like environment for the residents, the Foundation is embarking on a capital campaign to raise $700,000 to support the upgrades and renovations to three of the five dining rooms.
