Broadmead Care’s volunteer orientation and education sessions are designed to ensure your volunteer experience is safe, fun and successful. We offer general orientation sessions on a regular basis for new volunteers.
Every volunteer attends a two-hour group orientation
session prior to beginning their role. Orientation provides volunteers with the basic expectations and boundaries of volunteer roles and tips for communicating and connecting with residents and clients. Further orientation is provided one-on-one by the volunteer's direct supervisor.
Many volunteers choose to attend education sessions to help them feel more confident and effective in relating to residents and clients in meaningful ways. Broadmead Care uses the expertise and experience of interdisciplinary staff for in-house education sessions. There are also workshops in the community that we encourage and support volunteers to attend.
Education sessions offered by Broadmead Care include:
- Supportive Pathways Dementia Care
- Communication Tips for Visiting and Reminiscing
- Music and Memory
- Meal Time Assistance
