| “Aspiring to excellence in care” is the primary goal of Broadmead Care Society (BCS). Maintaining accredited status is one key strategy our organization uses to ensure we are working towards this goal in a consistent and evidence-based manner.
Broadmead Care Society (and its predecessor organizations) has been fully accredited by Accreditation Canada[previously called Canadian Council on Health Services Accreditation (CCHSA)] since 1989. In May 2006, BCS once again received a three year accreditation renewal (2006-09).
Accreditation Canada offers a rigorous and thorough peer review process to assess how well an organization meets national health care standards. Our accreditation renewal once again provides the evidence that Broadmead Care Society meets or exceeds national standards for quality of care in all aspects of its operations.
The Lodge at Broadmead is a facility of choice with a reputation for excellent care, best practice and a high quality living environment. Results of the 2004 NRC+Picker Group Long Term Care Resident and Family Survey indicated that:
- BCS was rated with an “overall quality of care / services” that was higher than the VIHA, BC and Canadian average for facilities with 125 beds or more and;
- BCS is a provincial and national high performer in a number of the surveyed domains of quality.
Broadmead Care Society is planning to conduct the next resident and family survey in 2008. |
